Wetherspoons to Slash Prices on Tax Equality Day
- Wetherspoons offers a one-day discount on food and drinks
- The event will take place on 12th September
- Discounts vary by location; Scotland sees reductions on non-alcoholic items only
Wetherspoons is set to reduce food and drink prices by 7.5% in a special one-day promotion across the UK on 12th September. The initiative, known as Tax Equality Day, aims to highlight the tax disparities faced by pubs compared to supermarkets. In Scotland, only food and non-alcoholic beverages will be discounted, while the rest of the UK will enjoy reductions on all menu items.
Examples of Discounts:
- Large breakfast: £9.99 reduced to £9.25
- Breakfast wrap: £6.21 reduced to £5.75
- Pint of Bud Light: £4.42 reduced to £4.09
- 500ml Kopparberg cider: £5.64 reduced to £5.22
Tim Martin, Wetherspoons' founder, emphasises the importance of tax equality, arguing that reducing VAT to 12.5% could benefit the hospitality industry. He urges the government to consider these changes to help pubs thrive.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, commented: "It's a great opportunity for people to enjoy their favourite meals at lower prices while supporting local pubs."
