Anyone Used the New Temu App?
Ask a Question
I've been seeing lots of adverts for this Temu app. I am very skeptical and think that it is too good to be true. For the prices advertised I can't imagine the products will be good quality. Has anyone used it? If so what are your thoughts?
It sells a variety of different things based on the ads. Loads of the stuff advertised says it has 90% off rrp. I'm just very skeptical about it
MrsCraig sounds like a website that was called What or Want (can't remember the rest) where they'd use an absurdly high RRP and sell at a low "discount."
I never went for that as it was just old tech that I'd get annoyed with (it'd be slow and small storage).
PhilipMarc I think you mean Wish it's very similar, I gave it a try out of curiosity minimum order has to be £10, but the items were good quality, not amazing, but still good.
Good question! I haven't ordered anything but they must be paying a fortune for advertising they keep coming up every time I search anything but I've never heard of them until a week or two ago.
Midnightflower I hadn't heard of them either until about a week ago, so thought I would ask of anyone actually knew if it was good or not. I agree they must be paying a fortune for advertising as I am seeing it everywhere!
MrsCraig I found an article on business insider about them, it's worth a read. I'm not sure I'll be ordering anything just yet.

Midnightflower useful article thank you. I'm not convinced yet and I am watching this space!!
pamtay I'm glad it helped. I downloaded the app to have a little look but I started getting bombarded with deals so I deleted it again. I'm going to wait a while and see, before I order anything.
I’ve ordered few things of it that should be delivered in next day or 2. Seems to be some lovely things on it but not sure what quality is like. I just bought few small items to see what it’s like before I order more stuff of it. Keep seeing lots of exciting stuff on it so hoping when my stuff arrives it’s quite good quality. I’ll let u know how it goes
Lynibis I can honestly say I’ve been pleasantly surprised and have bout 6 dresses hanging in my wardrobe from them. 1 I did order in same size as others was too small, it must have been sized wrongly. I told them and my money was refunded within minutes and I got to keep the dress. They told me I was welcome to keep the dress and pass it onto someone else or I could sell it. My mum liked it and it fitted her and she’s 2 sizes smaller than I am. You can’t go wrong
It's like Shein apparently (China based) I did download the app and add quite a few items to my basket but I decided to look at their reviews on google first and they don't look great so I didn't go ahead with the order. Also what put me off was the fact there is no PayPal option which I prefer. Think I'll stick to Shein as I've never had problems ordering from there.
Anyone who has ordered from Temu please update here as I'll be interested too.
PinkElephant26 I read about them last night. All the things I read said the quality wasn't great and there was lots of spam emails afterwards too. I didn't know there wasn't a PayPal option, I would prefer to use that too.
I've never actually ordered from Shein either. Again worried about the quality and sizing
MrsCraig I get emails every day from Temu but I just delete them.
I've been buying from Shein for a while now, I've had clothes for me and the kids and lots of other bits too and honestly I've not had a problem with any items and the clothes are good quality. The dresses are lovely, I'm not one for wearing dresses but I ordered a couple of summer ones last year and they're lovely. Delivery is usually around the 2 week mark. I always pay via PayPal with shein.
PinkElephant26 I might have to have a look, seen Shein advertised quite a bit too, but have never looked as wasn't sure about it.
Nadiaparveen oh, I didn't see that, that's why it put me off! Ill check again
PinkElephant26 I’ve ordered from them 3/4 times now and must admit I’m pleasantly surprised by the stuff. I’ve got few dresses and tops and always get compliments when I wear them. I only pay by PayPal so I know I’m covered. PayPal is definitely available for payment. Also if there’s problem with anything you get a refund with no need to return the item. I’m not sure if that works for everything but I’d ordered few dresses all in same size but 1 had definitely been sized wrong and was too small. My money was refunded in minutes and I was told I was welcome to keep the dress and pass it on to someone or to sell it. My mum took it
PinkElephant26 Hi, I've downloaded the app and purchased a few items using PayPal, My delivery is expected by 20th June, so I'll comment further after the delivery and judged the merchandise..
PinkElephant26 I've received my 12th package from Temu now and a few more to be delivered yet. Had no issues with them yet as everything has been of good to great quality. I use Paypal or Klarna with them without any problems at all.....
PinkElephant26 there is choice of paying by PayPal . I've just placed 1st order after about 6 friends showing me their purchases - all seem great quality, so fingers crossed mine will be too.
Hi, I have taken a gamble and placed an order, but slow delivery as it seems it is all shipped from China! Ordered on 2nd of May, and delivery by EVRI now due today, will see what the quality is like and post later, PayPal is an option, and yes, there are a lot of emails and notifications, if you opt for SMS alerts, expect shipping updates to be sent to your phone at anytime of the day! 4AM seems to be a favourite, but soon switched that off!
I haven't seen this advertised so will take a look into it, interested to hear of others experiences too.
The amount everyone is sharing it and forcing it on social media makes me skeptical. They are sharing it in every group even if it isn't relevant which really puts me off.
I've heard all sorts: I've heard people saying they've had people trying to log into their accounts shortly after, I've heard random large amounts of money being stolen from accounts. I've seen people that say they have friends in cyber security who also warn people off using it.
Even if it was genuine and didn't steal your details, data and/or money, I can't see how it can be very ethical. For people to be getting on average of £200 free items without ordering much, they seem like some amazing items, mixed in with some not so great. How are they affording to make the products, send the products and pay people fairly? It doesn't sit right with me. I highly doubt any electrical products or even toys meet the safety standards either.
Please be very careful.
If you do join, please use a password that is completely separate from your others, please check out with Paypal, but make sure you are already logged into Paypal safely first and don't log in via links they ask you to.
Then I saw this - absolutely no idea if it is has any truth. I don't wish to find out.
DeBunny they're probably sharing it loads because if you sign up through a referral from someone else that other person ears vouchers...I think it's something like £150 credit or some mad amount. So everyone I'd sharing it in hopes they get the credit to their temu account.
PinkElephant26 I know but this is extreme compared to usual sharing of referral links that get posted. I’d also be very cautious as to why things are so cheap and why there are so many free items and free money given away.
It just doesn’t sit right with me.
If it is loads of items from China as some have said, are people working super hard for nothing out there?
Are a lot of them items even safe?
Certainly would highly doubt they have been through the testing that most items in the UK need, I wouldn’t be giving any items to children, like toys, electronics and would even question some clothing with fire safety etc.
I love a freebie but I don’t know enough about this to want to sign up.
kate1310 I can’t confirm this is 100% true as obviously someone typed it up initially and I don’t have huge evidence right now.
But for me it isn’t worth the risk. I am cautious of most things I add onto my devices as most people just accept the terms and conditions and it does give apps a certain amount of information and access. I think people are so fast to accept terms and conditions, not many people read them, let alone throughly.
I know a few people on my fb who are doing it and they swear they are receiving the goods but like most others I’m pretty skeptical
I keep seeing adverts for it and their products look great but cheap so I think is there a catch
I just saw a post about this in a craft group, someone was sharing that their order had arrived and they were pleased with it.
Although one of the comments said they had taken more money without consent, another said they were just about to click pay and it added another £80 onto their cart.
One person said to always pay via Klarna or they do this often, they can't with Klarna as they have to authorise it.
Thought it was worth sharing their responses here - It is a Circut craft group on Facebook, I didn't screenshot it, as it is a private group and didn't think it was fair.
I have ordered from Temu app I have just ordered some little things they are due to be delivered in the next couple of days I will let you know about the quality of the items but since ordering I have received lots of texts with offers
tara73ziva hopefully you are pleased with your order please let us know I was looking on the site wasn't sure if it was genuine or not
tara73ziva I'm on my 12th order now other than 1 item damaged in transit (refunded to my account within 5mins) everything else has been of good and great quality. Can't say anything bad about them as I closely keep an eye on my bank transactions and no suspicious activity from anyone since I've been using them. If you don't uncheck you favorite's they will be added to cart so make sure to go through your list before completing your purchase. A lot of scaremongers out there and rival sites trying to give opposition a bad name....
Sasnacks I was happy with my order too everything I ordered was good quality, but I always pay with PayPal
