BBC Host Flips the Audience on Live Tv

In the News

Oh look, they're being honest with their viewers. 🤣

I know this isn't funny, but it shows how they feel about the very people who financially support them. It's not news that this is how they feel.

I canceled my TV License subscription in 2019 and glad I did. They have sent me letters earlier this year to renew my cancelation, but I just threw them away.

It's canceled so that's it!

I mean i’m not sure she was intentionally swearing at the audience, more likely she was having a joke with one of the behind the camera crew or something like that.

Was funny to see her immediately switch into news reader mode

jms19 joke or not. It's not appropriate to do this or sensible given that it was filmed and all over media

Jerseydrew yeah i agree it’s not a good look but i don’t think she was intentionally giving the middle finger to the audience as OP suggested.

How many of us can honestly say we’ve never sworn at work, it’s not professional ofc but it’s not that big a deal.

The TV license is going up to £170 or just under in April and its been reported by the BBC that 437,000 homes have cancelled their TV license this year. A sizeable chunk of the fee goes to pay for the BBC Pension shortfall. I haven't paid the TV license for years and actually feel my mental health has improved not having the BBC to be honest, as it used to always irritate me especially the huge sums of money they wasted and the standards of journalism which I felt always gave an incomplete picture. The trouble is with so many people cancelling their TV license their funding problems are going to get a lot worse and the government may look to fund it another way like an extra on council tax which means everyone pays it despite millions having zero use and interest in the BBC.

I personally think the BBC should be funded by advertising and the revenue they get from their back catalogue. The only thing that perhaps should be government funded is their news service but its so grossly inefficient and expensive. I feel if we do pay for a national TV news service it probably shouldn't be the BBC.

BonzoBanana I hate paying the TV Licence yearly, but I do get value for money because of iPlayer. Some of the programme available I have never heard of before and some of them are memories of yesterdays. I take no notice of any news regardless of its sources. As for the BBC misspending the licence money on celebrities, their pensions, head office salary or whatever, I am not the least bit bothered.

jam45 I get no value from it but certainly understand those that do should pay for it and those that don't shouldn't. Ideally it should be a paid service like Netflix and digital only with perhaps a few free live channels with older programs funded by advertising. It just needs to be fair to all. It isn't morally right to have a forced taxation system for an entertainment service and its not fair to commercial channels that lose advertising revenue because people without a TV license aren't allowed to watch those channels live.

At the moment a huge amount of homes have a TV license even if they don't want or use BBC channels because they are worried about the legality of not having a TV license. It just seems incredibly unfair. The issue is I guess if the BBC subscription service is purely digital and optionally it would likely have to be at a much lower price than the TV license to be competitive and only a small subset of people would pay for it so its likely the BBC would shrink considerably or even cease to exist in its present form as their funding would be hugely reduced.

Its a waste of our money anyways. The BBC Is a load of rubbish. It Is not what It used to be all those years ago. The Corporation Is corrupted and they knew about what went on behind closed doors but chose not to Intervene.

The BBC are shoving the finger up to us every day with the TV licence, I read today they want to increase it by 25% 😱 but government has blocked it, if they do increase they can stick their licence where the sun doesn't shine

I would say aimed at camera man for some reason but nowadays they are robotic aren’t they? In that case not sure who she was aiming at. I only just heard about it, I don’t know what news it was on, National or local.

it was a joke between colleagues and was just badly times as she went live. Nothing more than that. Happens quite often on live TV - you can spend hours on Youtube watching all the clips.

As someone who is in the public eye this presenter knows that the camera is pointing at her so clearly she shows a total disregard for the public knowing all her actions can be 'caught' - or perhaps it was intentional to get some publicity 🥴

🤣 So many reports of this happening when people don't realise that their mics are still on and they say inappropriate things. It's not rocket science - if you're in front of a camera or you're wearing a mic (people have been caught out when using the toilet...), assume you're being recorded and are live 😬

There is a new internet only service coming out called 'freely'. It's disgusting that this service can use the word 'free' in it when you have to have a TV license to use it. It looks like ITV, Ch4, Ch5 and BBC will be bundled in one app so for those that don't have a TV license and want to use the non BBC parts of the service it could be difficult. I guess we will have wait until we see the details but I'm always disgusted that freeview, freesat and now freely have the word 'free' in the name.

Of course what will likely happen is ITV, Ch4 and Ch5 have a huge drop in people using their streaming services and they will be financially punished and less commercially viable over time.

I haven’t watched tv in over 10 years now but every now and then something pops up online and reminds me why I don’t.
