Has Your Child Been Denied Access to the Toilet?
Ask a Question
Has your child ever been denied access to the loo at school?
A head teacher in Wiltshire has started to lock the toilets during lessons 'to reduce vandalism'
This really winds me up. It's not OK. Denying children to go to the loo is against the un child's right. Going to the loo is a need and not a want
Some people have discussed this here: www.latestdeals.co.uk/chat/parents-condemn-school-barricading-toilets-shut-during-lessons
Don’t agree with this. What if child has problem? I don’t have children but I was a child once. Vandalism would occur at breaks anyway.
This is absolutely awful, you can’t stop children needing the toilet. Ok, some children will keep asking to get out of class but that’s a different issue which needs addressing
I remember at school sometimes the teachers wouldn’t allow us out of class for the toilet which i get if someone is doing it all the time, but there were times when it was genuine and they said no.
SamGoodship yeah I get that kids take the mick and will want to go again and again. But i distinctly remember one science class i had to beg my teacher for like 30mins to go to the toilet. Not a pleasant experience and if I was more mature i would have just gone either way.
That's absolutely disgusting, children should be able to go to the toilet when they need to,thank god our daughter was able to use the toilet when she needed to when she was at school.
There is simply some easy ways of stopping the practice of what the head teacher has done in Wiltshire without closing the toilets as its punishing everyone because of a few idiots who it affects.,
stuartsmith544 agreed!
they shut toilets in our shopping centre years ago due to vandalism and never reopened them so now there’s no toilets for anyone
Kids don't need to go to the toilet during lesson time unless they have a problem, which the teachers would be full aware of.
Children going in and out of the classroom during lessons is a disruption for everyone else.
Me and my classmates never needed to go to the toilet during class, but then again, we didn't have vapes in the 80s
Guess there's money to be wasted on teachers knee ups but not for a school hall monitor
Backward priorities.
You gotta go u gotta go
Most of the high schools where I live are part of the same academy. They have all been locking toilets during lessons and denying pupils access. At break they are monitored with only 2 pupils allowed in at one time. Resulting in long ques and kids choosing between queuing for lunch or the toilet. The schools excuse was vaping. However they have faced a major backlash from parents, who have kids particularly girls who will refuse to attend school at certain times of the month.
At our school the pupils have to be given a toilet pass and have to sign out on a sheet and also hand over their phones when going to the toilet during lessons. That way, is anything happens it is easy to figure out who was out of class when it happened. We don't lock the toilets but have steps in place to minimise vandalism etc
