How Fast Must This Car Have Been Going ?

Ask a Question

Not sure if you have seen this news article "Building collapses into street after being hit by car"

I couldn't believe the damage, or that the driver was able to free themselves.

Lucky the occupant of the house wasn't at home!

How fast must the driver have been going to have done that much damage ?

I've just read the article online. I can't believe an ordinary car could do this. I always thought only a lorry or such could cause this kind of damage. I feel sorry for the house owner to find their home uninhabitable.

Some SUVs are ridiculously heavy especially electric ones with the weight of the batteries. I guess its down to the speed of impact too and maybe the house had some minor structural issues. We really need to get away from vehicles where 1 person is encased in 1 or 2 tonnes of metal its hugely damaging to the environment, economy and safety of people outside that vehicle. This could have so easily killed many people if the circumstances were less favourable.

Wow! Thank goodness no one was killed that could have ended awfully although thoughts are with the person who lost their home! The driver must have been going double the speed limit for that much damage wow!
