What Happens if You Swallow Lego?

In the News

NB: Don't try this at home

Todays question is: What happens when you swallow a Lego head? Does it remain in your digestive system or does the body expel it? A group of doctors from Australia recently took part in an unusual experiment, in which they each swallowed a Lego head to settle the query. As you do lol.

The bizarre experiment, which the team branded a 'dedication to paediatrics', was recently published in a scientific journal. The good news ,is that the study confirmed that the small toy should find it's way out within one to three days.

The study which was titled 'Everything is awesome: Don't forget the Lego', was discussed on Twitter by the consultants involved. Image

MelissaLee1 I read recently that a lot of A & E patients , namely children , turn up with lego pieces stuck up their noses

But i should imagine swallowing a piece of lego could be just as painful when it is eventually jettisoned

They are certainly dedicated to science. I'm sure their research will be helpful for parents with toddlers that like to taste everything!
