Mail Order Pies. Have You Tried Any?

Ask a Question

I keep on getting ads for pies on my FB. I really want to treat me and MrsChimp to some, but there are quite a few companies out there and all have varying reviews.

Does anyone have any experience with buying decent pies?

I used to get pies by post from Lochinver Pies - choice was amazing and they were really yummy but not cheap. www.piesbypost.co.uk/collections/all

TheChimp I said they weren't cheap, but they are stuffed full and one used to do two of us with chips and veg 🙂 A battered chimp pie - something new?

I wouldn't be surprised if they are repacking Asda or Lidl pies and calling theirs handmade. I do not trust self employed mail order food business because they answer to no one and nobody can proof their food is really hand made with the freshest ingredients as claimed. Whereas factory produced can be traced to their original suppliers.

jam45 A couple of traders at our local farmers market were caught repackaging sausages and other things that they'd bought from Aldi. Very naughty indeed.

TheChimp I do not find your "Very naughty indeed" funny. This is exactly what I suspected coming from self employed butchers.

I have used Wilfred's Pies for over a year and love their deep filled meat, chicken or veg pie with gravy or sauce. They are £4 each with minimum order of 4 but are freezable. If you order £35, delivery is free. Highly recommended. So tasty.

Nothing wrong with Pukka pies. Makro prices are reasonable, as well as Farmfoods.
