How Much Are You Spending to Celebrate the Coronation?
Ask a Question
How much are you planning to spend to celebrate the Coronation?
Are you hosting a party, having friends round for special food, buying themed clothes?
Although I am a staunch royalist I won't be spending anything. Will just watch on TV and maybe invite my bestie round for a meal. That's a regular thing so no extra money spent.
I haven’t planned anything but I might open a bottle of champagne, well it’s an excuse to drink during the day
I wont be spending a penny as I have to work unfortunately. I will have to catch up on TV the day after.
I'm taken both my wheelchair parents to a fun day at the carehome I help out at both in their 90s should be a good day
I don't like having a monarchy and I probably won't watch any of the coronation. It's just not my thing at all.
Not much. I'm planning on a bbq and making bunting for it. We going to be using a public bbq site and it will be up to look nice for us and dog walkers. As I work with kids and in schools I can take it to work and hang it out after
I haven't anything planned but I will probably get some cake and some of those union jack plates
Absolutely £0 spending or celebration and will avoid watching any of it. I will, however, enjoy the Bank Holiday!!
SamGoodship - I will go window shopping and not buying anything. But I might visit several supermarkets near to closing time for the reduced items.
Nothing, I like the royal family. My wife however has no time for them. I'm fighting a losing battle. Will watch on TV which won't cost a penny.
I am organising party venue one for deaf community and one for my home community lounge will be busy
I was listening to a couple of men chatting this afternoon and they don’t intend watching any of the Coronation!
Why is it conidered negative to be anti-monarchy? Supporting the class structure that means a select few have immense privilege, and the rest of us are supposed to show them respect for simply existing, is EXTREMELY negative.
Nothing !!!!
Why when we are all already paying for all the **** that surrounds it !!! Blimming gold carriages etc when folk canny afford to eat... it absolute nonsense
Whatever ones views on monarchy the coronation is an important milestone in the UK’s history and the pomp and ceremony of it will be spectacular viewing for millions of people around the world . Not a day for considering class structure , most heads of state , other business titans , famous sport and entertainment stars all enjoy privileges and a life style most of the population can only dream about. As for respect one can choose to give it to whomsoever one chooses for a myriad of reasons and King Charles track record relating to the environment and making young persons life meaningful , together with other subjects makes him worthy of it(my respect) his position is irrelevant . So my grown up family and friends are are going to have a party intent of enjoying it to full celebrating the occasion, spending much as it takes. ….. Enjoy the day
Goldeneagle I agree with every word of your comment. At the end of the day none of us can help the life we are born into and they are people, just like us but without the money worries!
Those who want to ditch our monarchy don't realise that it would be replaced by another establishment that would cost a fortune. America's presidential system is no better, the presidency must cost a fortune. Every country has it's head of state in whatever form and I feel ours is full of amazing history.
Having said that none of our past monarchs have been particularly nice people up until the last century, but then humanity itself was cruel and uncaring.
We shall be watching it all on the TV, plenty of nibbles, cream tea and a few drinks, oh and bought a couple of hats yesterday .
Nothing. I never do spend on royal events. I might watch on TV but I'm tempted to have a day out somewhere instead depending on what is open that day
Imagine watching and getting excited over a privileged prat wear a crown while the country goes to ****
Not spending anything myself and unlikely I will do anything to celebrate. I have family members however that will purchase anything and everything that's marked with the coronation
Nothing extra really. Hubby will be playing cricket, daughter will probably be with her boyfriend and son still at Uni so I'll be watching it on my own at home. Might open a bottle of fizz to toast the new King and Queen though.
Not planning on spending any extra, although we are going to a vintage day, where they will be streaming the coronation. So I suppose whatever we choice to spend on refreshment.
I'm not interested in the whole charade. We are going away for that weekend & so I hope go avoid the whole spectacle.
King Sausage Fingers wants the people to pledge allegiance to him? No, it should be the other war around. That's something a dictator would demand.
What happens to those who don't? Police blasts through their door and arrests them?
Is calling him a dictator uncalled? No, not really. You have that clear as day and this: www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/06/the-great-reset-this-weeks-world-vs-virus-podcast/
"We" need a Great Reset? No, the people never agreed to it.
PhilipMarc This is the first comment of yours I have disagreed with for a while. How can he be a dictator when he has no say in anything that goes on in this country but has done much good and is well known for his planet saving work.
As for pledging allegiance, learn your history, it is a two way pledge with him pledging his life and service to the people, just as his mother did. None of them ask to be born into their world and they can't just walk away if destined for king/queenship, not like that prat Harry who is a sad and spiteful person jealous that he wasn't the first son.
Nothing . A great boost for tourism in London but haven't heard of much happening elsewhere Saturday will be a normal day for me
I loved watching The Windsors on channel 4 last night. I wonder if the King & Queen watch it.
Nothing and probably won’t watch it either. Grandson is coming to spend wkend with me as he’s off school for an extra day so probably do something with him just
Not a royalist so spending nothing more than usual. will not be reciting the ’oath’ either!!! don’t wish the family harm but have no interest in the outdated and unelected group. Should not be a part of a modern democracy. The royal family and the House of Lords are outdated and do not belong to the world as it now is.
