Supermarkets Are Already Selling Easter Eggs Days Just after Christmas

Ask a Question

I just read this article

metro.co.uk/2022/12/30/supermarkets-selling-easter-eggs-a-few-days-after-christmas-18015163/

& thought it can't be true, as supermarkets must still be trying to selling the Christmas chocolates that haven't sold.

Have you sported any Easter eggs ?

We were in Lidl yesterday, no easter eggs in sight. They were selling off the Christmas chocolate.

MrsCraig That's my thoughts exactly, I haven't been to the shops, but supermarkets only have so much shelf space and people will still be eating Christmas chocolates plus traditionally people eat healthier in January, so I wouldn't have thought there was any demand

beccatavender I wouldn't buy an Easter egg just now. It's not Easter. I would have thought there would be stuff to do with Veganuary rather than Easter.

Iceland (pictured) is selling their Easter chocolates since Wednesday in my area. The Cadbury Snowy fingers (chocolate fingers) are 50 pence each (I brought 8 of them). Asda and Tesco are charging £1.25 each for the same products. Poundland is selling it for 75 pence.

It's always the same after Christmas, never long and the shelves start filling up with Easter Eggs.

My local Tesco was well stocked with Easter goodies when I visited yesterday. I got some Cadbury Creme Eggs. There is a new white chocolate egg available.

I have noticed in the supermarkets shops I go to, there has not been much left in the sale. So there is room for Easter Eggs. I also noticed in Poundstretcher the other day they were boxing up all the Christmas decorations and presumably storing away for next year, so no sale here.

Same story every year. At the end of the day if people didnt buy them this early the the supermarkets wouldn't bother selling them this early

My goodness, this fast!! It seems like there aren’t as many big January sales now as there used to be so I guess they move straight on to the next seasonal item!
