Taking a Bath May Become a Luxury as Cost Set to Soar by 90%

I have just read this article, which said that the cost of filling a bath will cost an annual average of £1,023 in 2023, up from £542.88 last year, Yorkshire Water estimates.
I have never thought of the cost before, I used to love luxuriating in a hot bath, it's one of the few things I miss about my old house, as we now only have a shower 
A BBC blogger estimated 8 minute a day shower, water and heating the water costs £14 a month or if you reduce your shower to 5 mins this reduces the cost to £9 per month.
Are you a bath or shower person ?

We all have baths in mine because we don't have a shower we asked landlord to put one in and he said no

beccatavender kinda like that but that is so limited. My design was a full height shower. But this is kinda where I got the inspiration from. Just looked like a hosepipe tho
Leannexxx thats private landlords for you take him or her to court private landlords make me sick they love the rent but don't like doing repairs it's about time the government bulit more social housing as its costing them tons of cash housing benefit and housing benefit top ups to people who are working but like always they are looking after fat cats landlords like the tories themselves are if you just walk into the UK they will make sure you get a relly nice home to live in
Of course it's a luxury . According to my smart meter a shower costs around 10p and a bath 30p - 40p . Can't say exactly as the gas bit of the smart meter only updates every 30 mins .
Well worth it in my view as I love a "wallow" in a radox bath at least a couple of times a week .
I don't turn everything off (just leave stuff on stby ) which costs about 3p a day , another luxury I suppose ? At least I know what costs what and what I can do to save a few more pennies if I need to . Have to keep things in perspective ?
Incidentally if you have a bath , modesty permitting , leave the bathroom door open before , during and after your bath . A hot bathtub acts as a big radiator and you don't want all that expensive heat getting wasted going down the plughole

Golfforall Until recently, I dont think most of us had to think about costs down to that detail, I know I didnt.
beccatavender Very true , never used to give stuff like that a second thought . I may be extravagant in many ways but I at least I like to know where my money is going and I am getting value (either real , imaginary or comforting ) for my spend .
Golfforall my jury is still out on that one. I put plug in when showering so my feet get a soak but I am a speedy shower taker. However, the water is still quite high when finished and if I were to lower myself into the bath my body would displace water making it even higher. My conclusion is that I don't use much less water by showering but when I used to bathe I was guilty of soaking and topping up with hot water several times so used more energy.
I don't use the bath now as at my age I am like a beached whale and have much trouble getting in and out
Lynibis I don't think I could get into a bath now, not since I had a back operation I'm not as flexible as I used to be
I always thought of a bath as a luxury. I can't actually remember the last time I had a bath. Moved into our new house 18 months ago and still haven't used the bath.
Always have a shower. I turned the temperature down recently as it was too hot, not sure if it made a difference or not cost wise
My toddler is the only one who has a bath in our house, she's not so keen on showers. The last time I had a bath I was giving birth to my now 8-year-old son 
I expect the NHS will have to start charging for water births. It must cost such a lot to heat all that water.
I never grew up with a shower, only had a shower at school after games or when playing football for the local team. Even the three houses I lived in during my 20's never had a shower. So I didn't have one when younger without having lots of other people in there at the same time! So still have a bath now while listening to the radio unless I'm in a rush.
MelissaLee1 I do, and at the risk of people thinking badly of me I do still have a strip wash when not working and not seeing anyone all day. However on work days it is a must to shower as I am sitting in close proximity to others in vehicles and would not wish to offend!
jdible My brother was being washed in the sink and said to my dad "Can I say b.....ks" and my dad said "no you can't lol!
omg god you have just converted me to showers. this is crazy how we are all having to scale back so much on basic things like this
I would love to have a nice hot soak in the bath but haven't done for years as just don't get the time.
Pfs I like showers in the mornings to wake me up, but used to like a long soak in the bath in the evening, normally on a Friday night to unwind. In my old house we had a big Jacuzzi bath, which was heaven, now I only have a shower.
To me a shower is a way of keeping clean , certainly when time is of the essence . Many say that a bath is not as efficient (as you stew in your own juice ,as it were ! ) . A bath is to luxuriate ? Why are overpriced "bath bombs " so popular ? Each to their own . These days our little luxuries are to be treasured ?
Mskaur I love a bath and will continue to have 1 everyday. Who would have thought that having a bath would be considered a luxury
