Woman Blinded after Painful Botched Eye Tattoo

In the News

I am afraid i have zero sympathy for these people who have their eyeballs tattoed

What the attraction is escapes me , they look horrendous, and now this woman could end up blind with many other associated problems

Some people have trouble enough going for an eye test with the discomfort of air being blown in their eyeball to test for glaucoma , never mind having pins stuck in their eyes , as the saying goes

MelissaLee1 Another possible reason for it M, it is like those that change their appearance into a wolf or another type of animal , there was one in another paper last week , and have their teeth filed etc , crazy

telmel My husband (when he was alive ) had to have a skin graft on his nose which he said was better than his own and got a mass fit of the giggles when he had choose from a book of noses! I saw people going in and out of the hospital unit with hideous deformities. Pitted against these were beautiful young people spoiling the best of their already gorgeous looks with unneeded surgery and face injections. The world is on it's head T.

The only people who might be troubled by needing a glaucoma test are those who might have read rubbish somewhere that air is blown INTO* the eyeball (false) and that there will be some discomfort (also FALSE), If they're troubled that they might have blurred vision or sensitivity to light for a few hours after then there's little hope for them.

Glaucoma tests, for any reason, are quick, safe, painless and are usually, at regular intervals part of most eye examinations on the over forties.

* there is a very big difference between into and at... Into infers the eyeball is being inflated.

davidstockport Specificity being the key apparently. In is less and At is more. A certain uncertain

Mary Magdalene(not the one I recall) wants Iris implants to 'enhance' and/or advance the rest of her surgery.

telmel I could be asking: what is wrong with people who have ZERO SYMPATHY for a young woman blinded for life when unknowingly choosing an unqualified person to perform a quite legal procedure? I don't like tattoos of any kind (except medical) but respect the right of anyone to have one... but unlike some excuses for humanity have sympathy for anyone who pays such a heavy price.

I actually know the answer to my question... but can't mention it here.

telmel They need weirdos to pay and watch them bob and bounce about in order to pay for their ever increasing amounts of surgery. It's a vicious or is it viscous circle lol.

MelissaLee1 I can only think they have mental problems M , who in their right mind would want to savage their bodies for fame and fortune , but unfortunately it seems to be happening more

Don’t you think a lot of stupid ideas like this are due to social media. Almost well if that person has it then it’s cool. But should the practice even be legal ?

suevernon1968 Got to ask would it be right to make any potentially harmful procedure or practice illegal? (unless it endangers others).

We tend to criticise other cultures for banning alcohol etc. But overlook the FACT that heavy drinking has probably caused more blindness than eye tattoos ever will.

davidstockport having your eyes tattooed is such a huge decision in one hit - it takes years for alcohol to cause blindness- and the state this country is in I don’t know how people can afford to be alcoholic. I understand that the need for body modification can be an addiction just as much as alcohMol can - but with body modification there are safer options to choose from. I jwas listening to a politician talking about making cigarettes illegal- this country would lose so much money due to the amount of taxes they charge and cigarettes would then be made illegally costing the nhs even more.

Thats a good question S, if it is it should be made illegal, only qualified opticians should be messing with peoples eyes

I don't want to say it was her fault, but she did agree to an eye tattoo so there are risks.

PhilipMarc Even laser surgery carries a slight risk P, and that is to improve vision, not for vanity or fashion as in this case

Why would want to dye your eyes black? I don't have much sympathy, to be honest, she choose a risky unnecessary procedure and didn't bother doing any research from what the article says.

This person is going to be a burden to the NHS and her family. I am hoping the so called tattoo artist will be prosecuted.

jam45 You obviously didn't even bother to read the article, or if you did, think our NHS covers people in POLAND. A few clues just in case you missed them; the young ladies name is "Aleksandra Sadowska"* and the botched procedure was performed in a place called WARSAW.

Polish health care or judicial system should be of no concern to us in the UK... we've got enough problems with our own 😀

*Be careful saying "Aleksandra Sadowska" if you've got an Echo device in close proximity 😀
