McDonald’s Celebrates 50 Years of the Big Mac With Two New Sizes
Fans of the iconic Big Mac are in for a treat this year.
Kickstarting a year of celebrations for the 50th birthday of the world famous Big Mac, for the first time ever UK McDonald’s are introducing two new limited-edition sizes of the burger on the 7th February.
After a successful release in America, the special burgers will be available to burger fans from today.
The tasty trio includes:
- The Birthday Burger- The original 50 year old Big Mac, made from two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, sandwiched between a three piece sesame seed bun.
- New and limited Mac Jr.- Made with all the same ingredients, but one less patty, the Mac Jr is smaller than the classic Big Mac, but still packs a pickle.
- New and limited Grand Big Mac- With the same Big Mac ingredients and taste, but in a larger size.
The Big Mac was first released in February 1968, and is best known for its special sauce which gives it the one of a kind taste.
Following its’ success in the USA, the Big Mac arrived in the UK in 1974, and has been a burger fan favourite ever since.
Fast food fans can also get some favourites from Lidl, with its’ new American food range.

“We know a lot of customers will remember the 1974 launch of the Big Mac in the UK, and have continued to enjoy the burger and pass the Big Mac love on since then.
“It still remains our most iconic burger!”
