Sainsbury's Shoppers in Shock as Mince Pies Return to Shelves in Early September
- Sainsbury's surprises customers with mince pies in stock just days after autumn begins
- Shoppers express disbelief on social media, as festive treats make an early appearance
- Sainsbury’s joins other retailers like Tesco and Asda in offering Christmas goods ahead of schedule
Sainsbury's shoppers were taken aback when iconic Christmas treats, mince pies, were spotted on the shelves despite it only being early September. Customers quickly took to social media to share their surprise, with one noting they saw the pies in August. At £1.70 for a pack of six, the mince pies are already available on Sainsbury's online store.
Karim Camara reported in The Sun that Sainsbury's is not alone in embracing the festive season early. Tesco and Asda have also launched their seasonal offerings, with Tesco’s Finest Mince Pies priced at £3.00, and Asda selling their pack for £1.50.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, commented: "It’s a bit of a shock to see Christmas food already in stores, but for those who love mince pies, it’s an early treat to enjoy."
They have them in Iceland too with Christmassy box art, I was in there yesterday it was only a few boxes on one shelf though so far. Probably December 1st we will start seeing Easter stuff appearing, I think it was more like January 1st last year but everything just seems to be getting a bit earlier each year.
BonzoBanana Doing this earlier and earlier really spoils the joy of celebrating Christmas on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and the run up to it.
12 months from now this conversation will be happening again . Once the children go back to school in September after the summer holidays it means that Christmas stuff will then be coming into the stores and I for 1 am always super excited and they also replace the Solar garden lights with wait for it Outdoor Christmas lights.
