Ask a Question

I love brighton, but are there any recommendations I should go to. Would love to try somewhere new.

There's some nice beaches in cornwall but my personal favourite is probably barmouth. I really like the town and walking across the railway bridge. It's my closest beach so head down there a fair few times during the warmer months.

I love Lossiemouth, Nairn, Roseisle and Findhorn beach. All are fairly close to me so we take our son to them in the summer. They are very different to each other but each beautiful.

Jerseydrew that's probably the one thing I hate about brighton is that it's pebbles and not sand.

Jerseydrew I am not a fan of Brighton beach, used to live near it. I much prefer Seaford beach, although stony so much quieter and relaxing. If you love stairs, try Peacehaven beach, this was featured in one of Mr Beans tv series.

I live in Jersey 🇯🇪. I'm surrounded by beaches. I love St ouens and green island. Though its hard to choose which jersey beach ⛱️ I prefer. We have some of the best beaches in the world 🌎. I admit I'm a beach snob cos of the standard I'm used to. Went to one in alberfia in Portugal 🇵🇹 was amazing and the main one in salou Spain 🇪🇸 was quiet nice.

The best beaches in my opinion are in Wales. Beautiful sand dunes and spectacular scenery AND no you can’t guarantee sunshine. I’m not Welsh.

West wittering beach in West Sussex near Chichester. It's sandy and shallow, with sand dunes. It's also dog friendly in parts too

cway2018 I don't have a dog but I would probably start saying hello to any that I see. So would purposely go to the dog friendly area.

Bamburgh beach in Northumberland is, for me, the most beautiful beach in England. Overlooked by a stunning Norman castle the beach is 2.5 km long with views of Lindisfarne to the north and the Farne Islands south. A great place to enjoy in the summer months and just as good to walk your dog in the colder months. Image Image Image

The beaches in the Western isles of Scotland are beautiful. When I showed pictures, people thought that they were taken in the Mediterranean. But without the crowds.

My two favourite beaches are Weymouth and Bournemouth both are a lovely smooth sand and there is a lot to see and do in each town. I'm not keen on beaches with a lot of stones and pebbles. Also Weymouth beach is a lovely mild angle into the sea. In contrast there is another beach close to me which is West Bay which I still like but its pebbles and stones and the end of the beach is pretty much a sheer drop into the sea. I'm not sure what the angle is but it almost seems like 90 degrees. Still enjoy West Bay and its my closest beach at about 20 miles away but definitely not my favourite. Bournemouth seems to get some of the best weather in the UK with the highest temperatures and most summer weather days which I guess is why you have Sandbanks in nearby Poole where a huge amount of rich people live who like decent weather.

How about beaches abroad? What is your favourite? Do you think they are better than English beaches? Apart from the weather.

eyeballkerry As long as you have a nice beach and the right weather I don't think it matters where it is but of course in some countries they have more consistent hot weather however personally I don't want it too hot, really I just want more summer days of the same temperature as the UK. 20-25 degrees Celsius is perfect for me. A tiny fringe benefit amongst all the horrors is global warming is bringing our average temperature up with more summer temperature days even if a lot of freak weather comes with it. Which is why we really need to stop travelling so much its both environmentally and economically damaging.

I like the Norfolk beaches - took a tour during summer and loved it.
