What is the Strangest Thing You Have Used to Wrap up Christmas Presents?
Ask a Question
I have run out of Christmas and brown wrapping paper so have wrapped the last few in gifts in tissue paper. I have heard of people using tin foil, so what have you used out of desparation ?
I have used old copies of Bibliophile magazine and/or interesting News Press /Magazine pages.
Hasn’t happened yet but if I was desperate and out of proper wrapping paper I would go through the recycling magazine pile and choose suitable pages and wrap with that. We also kept all the gift bags from previous years given to us and would just re-use them, don’t even have to wrap if you don’t want to.
JLouM Good idea, unfortunately, I read all my news, magazine digitally. The only physical magazines we get is the Fortean Times, if I used any of these my husband would have a fit, he collects them, he has every edition going back over 20 plus years - it would be grounds for divorce
beccatavender No don’t use those!! Do you not even pick up the free promotional supermarket ones with coupons in? You might just have to go and buy more anyway.
We always seem to have excess wrapping paper, especially Christmas related, so unfortunately many people end up with Christmas wrapping paper all year round Although I try and get it so it looks neutral and in the sale. Picked up some silver star paper which would work for anything.
Failing that then carrier bags... most people end up with an endless of reusable bags somewhere?
My mother once put some jewellery for my sister in a label box, my sister tossed it aside as she thought it was rubbish and didn't open them, then my mother phoned her friend to check she didn't pack it with her gifts etc. So if you do use something else, please at least remember what YOU wrapped it in
DeBunny I thought I had loads, but unfortunately it has taken more paper than expected, once I found all the gifts, I had hidden away.
I do have some pretty boxes I have saved from Ritual candles that I have used for some gifts.
I was wrapping something fragile and didn’t have bubble wrap- so I protected it with toilet roll - it made me chuckle so much that I put extra layers of loo roll on it - then just stuck a tag on it. The look on her face still makes me chuckle!
suevernon1968 It's great when you can look back on something and chuckle, wishing you a Merry
To make it easier for wrapping I save all sorts of boxes, including food boxes. Handy even for wrapping a pair of socks.
HEDGEHOGS I thought I was the only one who saved boxes, my husband is always taking the Mick when I keep pretty candle boxes from Rituals etc. They ha e to be sturdy
Merry Christmas
